I joined the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP) in the early 1990s. Since then I have provided editorial services to publishers of
- books, including textbooks and illustrated books
- journal articles
- reports
- websites
- online reference works
I have edited and proofread text written by hundreds of authors (novice writers, established academics, non-native English speakers) for dozens of clients, from household names to smaller niche publishers. I became an advanced member of the SfEP in 2002.

My higher education:
- MA (joint honours) degree in Russian and Greek (Glasgow University); subjects included sociology, psychology and classical art
- postgraduate diploma in librarianship and information studies (Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology)
I have also taken courses in typographical design (West Herts College), copywriting (Publishing Training Centre) and web editorial skills (SfEP).
